Reflecting on my Art Residency in India was nothing short of transformative. Immersed in the heart of a culture so deeply rooted in tradition, I found inspiration at every turn. The vibrant landscapes, the intricate craftsmanship, and the spiritual essence of everyday life pushed me to expand my creative horizons. Whether observing skilled artisans working with traditional handicrafts or engaging with contemporary conceptual art, the diversity of expression was profound. This experience not only challenged me to explore new materials and techniques but also allowed me to dive deeper into researching the connections between historical exchanges of tangible and intangible cultural practices. It was fascinating to uncover how these traditions have evolved and influenced both local and global artistic expressions. The connections I made with fellow artists, local artisans, and the wider community were equally impactful, offering me fresh perspectives on the societal role of art. I had the unique opportunity to work directly with some of the local youth, engaging in workshops, discussions, discovery, and storytelling through translation. Together, we explored both the similarities and differences in our cultural backgrounds, which greatly enriched my research and artistic understanding. I leave this residency with immense gratitude, a broader vision for my artistic practice, and a renewed passion to integrate these rich experiences into my future projects.
